SWIMATHON 2010

Our first Swimathon, held
on the 20th February was a great success, raising funds for several
local charities. We hope that it will become an annual event!
Please use the following link for donations, including money raised for
the Swimathon.

WELCOME FROM PRESIDENT DENIS WELSTEAD
Welcome to the Winchester Rotary Website and if you are
not a Rotarian I hope that the following information about our club
will be of interest to you.
We are part of Rotary International
and our male and female members both active and retired represent many
occupations, businesses and professions locally and nationally.
My ambition is to have a year of Rotary that is great fun and very
worthwhile, in that we will have fun doing very many worthwhile things.
We are working this Rotary year to support physically injured and
traumatised service personnel by raising a very substantial sum for
Help for Heroes. The Adjutant General's Corps is giving us practical
assistance in this major project. The main event was a concert with the
Treorchy Male Choir and the AGC Band at the Cathedral on Saturday 26th
September 2009, which raised in excess of £26,000. We have also supported
the Rotary “End Polio Now” campaign and the Haiti Diaster
Relief Appeal. We also
give local charities useful support with money and in kind and our
charity walk on 9 May will be in aid of Winchester’s
homeless. We enjoy working with each other and with Rotarians in
different parts of the world, creating lasting friendships. The full
social programme is
very important with a variety of activities and events creating well
being within the club.
We meet at The Winchester
Royal Hotel in the heart of our historic cathedral city on the 1st
and 3rd Mondays of each month at 12.45 for 1pm and on the 2nd, 4th and
5th Mondays at 7 for 7.30pm (except Bank Holidays). Breakfast meetings (7-30am
to 8-30am on the third Wednesday of each month) are very popular and a
great success.
Look at our Programmes
page to find out about our future meetings and to our Membership
page if you are interested in joining or coming to see what we do.
Visiting Rotarians should contact Jim Hull by e-mail on ja_hull@ntlworld.com or phone on
44(0)1962 882270 either way by midday on the preceding Friday please.
Our Rotaract Club for 18 to
30 year olds. We also support an Inner Wheel Club. Membership of Inner
Wheel is open to the wives, widows, female partners, sisters, mothers
and daughters (over 18) of Rotary and Rotaract members and it has its
own very full and interesting programme.
Try the links below for the various committees to see all the things we
